PP81 : How to get out of a (productivity) funk

We all get in funks. This week, I want to share four quick strategies for getting out of a work funk.

Funks are real. I think they are usually related to energy, boredom and frustration. So that’s my strategy to get out of one.

Know Your Tasks!

Think of your tasks as being either Developing, Dealing, or Developing. I talk about it in this article from a couple of years back, and in episode 1 of Productive Pastor. Get an idea of what you are up against, and ask yourself the question “Is there a developing task I can do” rather than sitting in your funk.

Are you a starter or a finisher?

Back with those energies! Maybe you need to give yourself permission to change focus for a few minutes or hours. In that, realize if you haven’t had the ability to do something that gives you energy. Create something new or get to a list of things you can wrap up 100%.

Activate Your Morning

I talked about this in Episode 70 of the podcast. Activate your Mind, Soul, and Body in the morning. Also think about what something special might be that can get added to your list early on to create some energy.

Task Hack

While I am not a big fan of hacks, sometimes you need one. This is the time to have an idea of optimization or another quick strategy to get around the object of your funkiness.
