PP76 : 5 Ways CliftonStrengths Affects My Productivity

No secret.

I am a massive fan of the Cliftonstrengths assessment. I have been for a long time, but a few years ago it began to shift in both it't importance and how I use it.

Here are 5 ways it helps me enhance my productivity AND keep me doing so in a healthy way.

I love strengths. I’ve been a fan of them for years, but a couple back, I worked with a certified Cliftonstrengths coach and it changed pretty much everything. I use them as a MAJOR part of my coaching and development work with pastors and ministry leaders. Here are the 5 ways I experience them in my day-to-day.

Time-Block Planning

I plan my work week out based on two of the domains of cliftonstrengths. I lead primarily with strategic thinking strengths and influencing strengths. So I make plenty of time to think and also prioritize how I have the ability to encourage others.

Energy Levels

In season 1 of the podcast and the Becoming Productive course I talk a lot about energy management. The best way to understand tasks and energy is through Cliftonstrengths.

Learning How I Work

As I dug into strengths and how they helped explain how I work, I realized how many times I had been trying to bring the wrong side of my strengths to situations. The biggest shift this has played for me is thinking through who OTHERS need me to be in the moment, and then how can I use my strengths to make sure I am the most effective in situations. The biggest way this has played out is understanding my role in meetings.

Shiny Object Syndrome

I love to start things. It’s my activator at play. But finishing things is difficult. What I have learned is how to shift my strengths in the middle of projects to wrap them up (and wrap them up well).
