PP072 : Task Layers (and the perfect ministry week)
Does the perfect ministry week exist?
I don’t think so. I have spent years understanding how Ministry Leaders can both accomplish the unique work of ministry AND do it with passion and excitement. Lately, I have been thinking of tasks in terms of “layers” that we apply over our schedule. Let’s chat about it.
Chasing the perfect schedule in ministry can be tough. I know I spent years doing it.
But ministry is about flexibility and responsiveness over anything else. The better we can design our weeks with that in mind, the better we will be.
I started thinking about grouping my tasks together a few years ago in terms of energy, and what it might mean to use that adaptation to plan a ministry schedule. Task layers let us adapt to our schedule, our responsiveness, and our energy levels.
Small Layer
A bunch of tasks. Focus isn’t required.
Medium Layer
A few tasks taking 20-30 min a piece
Large Layer
One thing to focus on for an extended amount of time.
