PP 58: How To Build Custom Pathways (with Fernie Rivera)

We are back for the second episode in this series on developing leadership and discipleship pathways. In this episode, Fernie builds out the basics of a pathway live on the podcast. And it goes really differently than I expect. (more on that below).

I wanted this episode to be really practical, and for us to understand Fernie’s strategy of path creation. So I threw him a church that is pretty typical for the deep south. Around 65 in attendance, 115 active and in a community mission field of 20k or so. What Fernie dug into wasn’t the usual ideas of assimilation or small groups, but instead what it means to create a missional culture (and in a super specific way). To be honest, I was floored because my own coach years ago told me I needed to teach people to do the very thing I did (and Fernie) does best, building relationships in the community.
