PP042 How an Online Writing Class Improved My Minstry
Hey crew!!! We are back with an all-new episode of the podcast. Today, I want to share a bit of how my learning in Ship 30 for 30 is changing how I approach parts of ministry.
One of the reasons I jumped onto this sailing of #Ship30 was to get deeper clarity in my work as a pastor and coach. And boy did I!!!
But as this was going on, something unexpected began to happen. Gaining a better grasp on my preaching and boots-on-ground ministry wasn’t something I figured would see a change in, but I did. I found an exercise we did early in the cohort that made me think about my preaching and leadership. Here is the framework.
“For Who” and “So That”.
For Who (in ministry)
What is the unique context that you serve in. Bigger than that, what are the friction points and conversations people are thinking about? The better work we can do here, the better we can contextualize our preaching and ministry.
So That (in ministry)
This is the sweet spot. Understanding our folks means giving ourselves the permission to throw the cookie-cutter approaches back in the drawer and be specific and deliberate in our work.
Make sure to check out the episode to hear about this more.
