PP029 My 5 Favorite Productivity Tools
So what are my basics? After 15 or so years of exploring Productivity as it relates to both work and creativity, the favorites have changed a bunch. And to be honest, they have reformed themselves as I have reformed my own understanding of productivity. But here are my 5 favorites currently.
I have 5 larger zones that I shared about in the episode.
1. My Whiteboard.
I usually buy this cheap sheet of melamine/markerboard from Home Depot. It runs between $15 and $18.
2. My Personal Knowledge Management System
I did an episode a few months back about my digital toolkit. I went into greater depth with this system there. But the shining star is my iPad Pro and Apple Pencil 2. Those would be immediate repurchases if something happened to them.
3. Music and my airpods
This was a bit of a different tool, but it is essential for the way I work and do things. I wrote an article about hacking productivity with soundtracks on Medium where I share some of my specific playlists and favorites for different types of work. I typically have music on most of the day in my office.
4. Standing Desk
Back with another Home Depot superstar. We have 2 different sizes of this desk around our house, and I am thinking about purchasing a third.
5. Stickies
I go into all of the different types of stickie notes and tabs I use. Here are the cheap ones on Amazon that I seem to stockpile and leave everywhere.
Honorable mention goes to the video light that I use all the time because the overhead lighting in my office isn’t that good.
